About
World
Ishani is a London-based singer, songwriter, and producer who has carved a niche in the UK independent music scene by revitalising the trip-hop genre. Blending atmospheric, future-thinking beats with raw, soulful vocals, she has drawn comparisons to Massive Attack, Portishead, and Morcheeba.
Born in India, she spent her childhood in Bangalore before moving to Singapore to study Film and TV, and eventually settling in the UK. This multicultural trajectory is evident in her “magical realism” approach to songwriting — fusing Western electronic production with an introspective storytelling style rooted in Eastern traditions.
Initially self-taught, Ishani later studied Audio Engineering at Alchemea and Point Blank in London, giving her complete creative control over her sonic landscape — a blend of industrial textures, glitchy beats, and cinematic melodies. Her work is characterised by a “dark pop” aesthetic that often tackles difficult subjects, from mental health to the toxicity of social media.
She gained significant traction after being championed by BBC Introducing and Bobby Friction on the BBC Asian Network. Her music has been featured by DJ Mag, Clash Magazine, Get In Her Ears, The Other Side Reviews, and A&R Factory.
